Hundreds of boys and girls attend Chevron Soccer Academy by Open Goal Project in Bakersfield

Hundreds of boys and girls from all over Bakersfield attended our Chevron Soccer Academy by Open Goal Project weekend in Bakersfield in early June, a powerful program that empowered our young players to attend boys and girls combines and be coached by former international soccer stars, completely free of charge.

By providing transportation and food for our players, the high-level training sessions, Chevron STEM Zone learning, and opportunity to interact with stars like former US Men’s National Team player Clarence Goodson, former Honduran international player Víctor Bernárdez, Janelly Farías of Mexico, Lauren Sesselmann of Canada, and two-time US Women’s World Cup champion Brandi Chastain, along with a number of other former professional men’s and women’s soccer players, the program was made accessible to young players from underserved communities and offered the boys and girls a platform to improve, learn, and be inspired, on and off the field.

Even the field, change the game.
