our story

AOG Recap-2.jpg

we created Open Goal Project after we noticed a lack of opportunity for talented youth soccer players from low-income families in Washington, D.C.

after working to integrate several players from low-income families into the DC travel soccer landscape as coaches, we began to understand the challenges and obstacles that were preventing these players, with such great potential, from participating in the first place.

realizing that these systemic issues were so widespread, we decided a program was necessary to affect a positive change for those youth players who have been overlooked, as well as the American soccer landscape as a whole.

we stand firm in our belief that with the proper resources, knowledge and support system, our players will be empowered to grow and reach their full potential with the game of soccer.

for our young men and women, we are confident that the best is yet to come and that that full potential will be realized, both on and off the field.

please join us on this mission: together, we can open goals.

 our mission

to create opportunities for young players from low-income families and underserved communities to access high-level soccer and grow with the game, on and off the field, to provide resources that empower those players and families to navigate the costs and overcome hidden barriers associated with playing, and to use soccer as a vehicle for cultural enrichment, higher educational opportunities, and greater life experiences.

our vision

we work to clear paths for young soccer players to access opportunities for growth, on and off the field, regardless of socio-economic status.

we stand firm in our belief that growing with the beautiful game as athletes and as individuals should not depend on where our players live, the language they speak, or how much money their families make.

our method

our blueprint has been modeled to combat issues that have traditionally kept talented young players off the field in our communities.

our unique Open Goal Project programming model focuses on eliminating the barriers that have traditionally kept players from low-income families and underserved communities from accessing high-level soccer opportunities. from meetings with families to vast logistical support, we provide resources that empower our players and their families to overcome obstacles.

by offering completely free programs within walking distance of public transportation, as well as professional coaches, community mentors, and bilingual leaders, we continue to provide innovative, positive, high-level programs accessible to players who were previously kept on the sidelines.

even the field, change the game.
